Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab that he heard Said ibn al-Musayyab, Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf (may God be pleased with him), Ubayd Allah ibn Abdallah ibn Utba and Sulayman ibn Yasar all say that they heard Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him) say that he heard Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) say: any woman whose husband divorced her once or twice, and then left her until she was free and married another husband, who then died or divorced her, and then her first husband married her again, she remains with him for what is left of her divorces. Malik said this is the sunna among us, about which there is no dispute. 1
