Summary
Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said that Zayd ibn Thabit (may God be pleased with him) was asked about a man who married a woman and divorced her before consummation, and whether her mother was lawful to him. Zayd said no: the mother is not conditioned, and the condition applies only to the stepdaughters. 1
