Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Abu al-Nadr, client of Umar ibn Ubayd Allah, from Abu Salama ibn Abd al-Rahman, who said to Abu al-Nadr: did I not see your companion, meaning Umar ibn Ubayd Allah, enter the mosque and sit down before praying two rak'as, and find fault with him for that? In the chapter on waiting for prayer and walking to it. Yahya says Malik held that the two entry rak'as are a good practice, not obligatory. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd transmitted it, and that a group of jurists followed this view. 1 2
