Chain of transmission
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Sa'id, in the chapter on voluntary prayer on a journey: Anas ibn Malik (may God be pleased with him) was seen on a journey praying on a donkey facing away from the qibla, bowing and prostrating by gesture, without placing his face on anything. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab, Suwayd and Muhammad ibn al-Hasan transmitted it, and that al-Nasa'i reported by a good chain from Yahya ibn Sa'id from Anas that he saw the Prophet ﷺ pray on his donkey, mounted, toward Khaybar with the qibla behind him. In the Sahihayn, from Anas ibn Sirin, that he saw Anas pray on a donkey facing away from the qibla and said: had I not seen the Messenger of God do it, I would not do it. 1
