Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may God be pleased with him) (may God be pleased with him), in the chapter on the merit of the standing prayer over the seated prayer: when they came to Medina, a severe fever afflicted them, and the Prophet ﷺ came out to people who were praying their voluntary prayers seated, and told them the seated person's prayer is like half the standing person's. The editor notes that the transmitters from Malik gave it as a mursal through this chain, since Zuhri did not meet Abdullah ibn Amr; several chains connect them, and the strong disagreement over Ibn Shihab's report is explained in al-Tamhid. 1
