Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab from Ata ibn Yazid al-Laythi from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, in the chapter on the call to prayer: the Prophet ﷺ ordered whoever hears the call to prayer to say what the caller says. The editor cites al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, Ibn Hibban and Ibn Khuzayma. Ibn Abd al-Barr says that al-Mughira ibn Saqlab alone added Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab to the chain; the editor says al-Mughira is a weak transmitter and this is one of his errors. He holds that the report from al-Zuhri from al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid is an error, and that the sound version is al-Zuhri from Ata ibn Yazid from Abu Sa'id. 1 2
