Summary

The first hadith in the chapter on the imam praying while seated. Yahya transmits from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Anas ibn Malik (may God be pleased with him): the Prophet ﷺ rode a horse, fell from it, and his right side was grazed. He prayed one of the prayers seated, and people prayed behind him seated. When he finished he said the imam is appointed to be followed: when he prays standing, pray standing; when he bows, bow; when he rises, rise; when he says "God hears whoever praises Him", say "our Lord, to You is praise"; and when he prays seated, pray seated, all of you. The editor cites al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i, al-Darimi and al-Shafi'i, and refers to al-Tamhid. 1
