«ما من امرئ تكون له صلاة بليل يغلبه عليها نوم إلا كتب الله له أجر صلاته وكان نومه عليه صدقة»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on night prayer. Yahya transmits from Malik from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir from Sa'id ibn Jubayr from a man whom Aisha was pleased with: the Prophet ﷺ told that whoever has a night prayer that sleep overcame him from, God records for him the reward of his prayer, and his sleep is charity for him. The editor cites Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i in al-Kubra, Ibn Nasr in Qiyam al-Layl and al-Bayhaqi. Ibn Abd al-Barr said the man Sa'id ibn Jubayr was pleased with is said to be al-Aswad ibn Yazid, and gave his name through Abu Ja'far al-Razi (al-Tamhid). 1
