Chain of transmission
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Nafi' in the chapter on what a man may do with his wife while she is menstruating: Ubayd Allah ibn Abdullah ibn Umar sent to Aisha asking whether a man may be intimate with his wife while she is menstruating. She said she should tie her waist-wrap on her lower body and then he may be intimate with her if he likes. The editor says the questioner is named Ubayd Allah in Yahya's transmission and al-Qa'nabi's, while other Muwatta copies, al-Shafi'i and Abd al-Razzaq make the questioner his father Abdullah ibn Umar, which is correct. Al-Bayhaqi says the report is stopped, though it has been transmitted both as a mursal and as connected from the Prophet ﷺ. 1
