  2. Rabi'a ibn Abi Abd al-Rahman
  3. Muhammad

Summary

A report that Malik transmits as a mursal from Rabi'a ibn Abi Abd al-Rahman, in the chapter on what a man may do with his wife while she is menstruating: Aisha was lying with the Prophet ﷺ under one garment when she jumped up sharply. He asked her what was wrong, and whether she had her menses, and she said yes. He told her to tie her waist-wrap tight and return to her bed. The editor notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that the report is broken in the Muwatta, with no disagreement among its transmitters on its mursal form; its sense connects through Umm Salama's hadith in the Sahihayn, and he knows no version from Aisha in these words. 1
