Chain of transmission
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Nafi' that Abdullah ibn Umar used to perform dry ablution up to the elbows, in the chapter on how to perform dry ablution. The editor notes that Ahmad ibn Isma'il al-Sahmi transmitted it from Malik in al-Daraqutni, and Abu Mus'ab, Suwayd and Yahya ibn Bukayr in al-Bayhaqi. A raised version from Ibn Umar says that dry ablution is two strikes, one for the face and one for the hands to the elbows, in al-Daraqutni and al-Hakim; al-Daraqutni said that the stopped version is the correct one. 1
