Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Nafi' al-Madani
- Salim ibn Abdallah ibn Umar
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Nafi' from Salim ibn Abdullah, in the chapter on ablution after touching the private parts: Salim was on a journey with his father Abdullah ibn Umar and saw him, after sunrise, perform ablution and then pray. He told him this was a prayer he had not prayed before. Ibn Umar explained that he had touched his private parts after his dawn ablution, forgot to renew it, so he performed ablution and repeated his prayer. The editor notes that Abd al-Razzaq and al-Tahawi transmitted it through al-Zuhri from Salim, naming the afternoon prayer, and Ibn Abi Shayba through Nafi' with a similar sense. 1
