«لعلك مسست ذكرك؟ قال: فقلت: نعم. فقال: قم فتوضأ»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Ismail ibn Muhammad ibn Sa'd from Mus'ab ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, in the chapter on ablution after touching the private parts: Mus'ab was holding the codex for his father Sa'd and scratched himself. Sa'd asked whether he had touched his penis, and when he said yes, ordered him to stand and perform ablution; he did and came back. The editor notes that Abd al-Razzaq, Ibn Abi Shayba and al-Tahawi transmitted it by other channels, and that al-Tahawi has another version in which his father told him to dip his hand in dust and did not order ablution. 1 2
