Overview

Qays Aylan is a branch of the tribes of Mudar, with many branches including Hawazin, Sulaym and Ghatafan in The Sealed Nectar's division of the Adnanite tribes. 1 The book mentions it as a party in the war of Fijar against Quraysh and those with them from Kinana. 2 3

In the war of Fijar

Qays had the victory at the start of the day over Kinana, but by midday the victory was Kinana's over Qays. The leader of Quraysh and Kinana was Harb ibn Umayya. 2 3 According to al-Mas'udi the war was between Qays Aylan and Banu Kinana, and they permitted fighting in the sacred months. 4
