In the introduction to al-Raheeq al-Makhtum
Kinana ibn Khuzayma is one of the clans of Ilyas ibn Mudar, and from Kinana came Quraysh, the descendants of Fihr ibn Malik ibn al-Nadr ibn Kinana 3 4. The clans of Kinana remained in Tihama when the sons of Adnan scattered 5. The postponement (nasi') of the sacred months belonged to Banu Tamim ibn Adi of Banu Kinana 6 7. Banu Bakr ibn Abd Manaf ibn Kinana helped Khuza'a drive out Jurhum, and then fought with Khuza'a against Qusayy 8 9. The author cites the hadith in Muslim: God chose Kinana from the descendants of Isma'il, and from Banu Kinana, Quraysh 3 10.
