Overview
In 891 AH the king of Castile freed the sultan Abu Abd Allah from captivity. Then the sultan entered Loja hoping for a truce with his uncle al-Zaghal. The Castilians besieged it and took it on the twenty-sixth of Jumada I. 2
Release and discord
The king of Castile gave the sultan money and men, on condition that the Muslims who came under his rule were in the truce. The people of Bushsh obeyed him, and peace was proclaimed in the markets. 2
The quarter of the Bayyazin in Granada called for his cause, and a great strife broke out in Granada from the third of Rabi al-Awwal until the middle of Jumada I. The Bayyazin were stoned from the castle. 2
Loja
The sultan entered Loja, asking that the kingship be for his uncle while he was under his rule. The king of Castile attacked it and tightened the siege, and no one came to its support except the Bayyazin. Its people asked for safe conduct, and emigrated to Granada, the homeland of the ancestors of Ibn al-Khatib. 3
The people of Granada declared, according to the account, that he had come to Loja only to surrender it to the enemy in ransom for himself. This is the source's statement. 3
