Overview
The relief
Al-Zaghal gathered the people, who advised that they march to relieve it, on a covenant they had made. The people of Guadix and the crowds of the Alpujarras came. He set out on the twenty-fourth of Rabi al-Akhir and found the enemy encamped against it by land and sea. 2
The men charged the Christians without order. Al-Zaghal learned that Granada had sworn allegiance to the lord of Bayyazin, so they were routed before the fighting joined and their hosts scattered. 2
The surrender
The people of Velez, seeing the Muslim armies in flight, asked for safe conduct. The Christians brought the country east of Malaga and the fortress of Qamarash under their obedience. 3
