Overview

Qazwin is a city in the mountains of al-Daylam. Al-Baladhuri mentions that the Asawira residing opposite al-Daylam embraced Islam when the Muslims came upon them at Qazwin, in the same way as the Asawira of Basra did. 1

al-Hajjaj's Daylam Expedition

When the Kurds ravaged during Ibn al-Ash'ath's revolt, al-Hajjaj sent Amr ibn Hani' al-Absi with Damascenes who routed and slaughtered them, then ordered him against Daylam with twelve thousand — among them eighty of Banu Ujul and their Kufan clients, including Muhammad ibn Sinan al-Ujli, who settled a Dastaba village then built a house in Qazwin's suburb; the frontier folk rebuked him for exposing himself and them, he ignored them, his household built with him outside the town, others followed, and so the suburb grew.
