Umm Mubashshir bint al-Bara' ibn Ma'rur

Umm Mubashshir bint al-Bara' ibn Ma'rur al-Ansariyya ¹.

Ibn Ishaq relates from Ibn Abi Najih from Mujahid from Umm Mubashshir, who said: I heard the Messenger of God say: "shall I tell you of the best of people?" They said: yes. He said: "a man with his flock, keeping up the prayer and paying the zakat, withdrawn from people's evils" ¹.

Muslim and al-Nasa'i narrate her hadith by way of Hajjaj ibn Muhammad from Ibn Jurayj from Abu al-Zubayr from Jabir from Umm Mubashshir: she heard the Prophet say at Hafsa's: "none of the people of the Tree shall enter the Fire, God willing" ². Ibn Hajar mentions the narrators' disagreement over its chain: Ibn Majah related it from Abu Mu'awiya from al-A'mash from Abu Sufyan from Jabir from Umm Mubashshir from Hafsa; Abdullah ibn Idris differed, saying: from Umm Mubashshir that she heard the Prophet say it in Hafsa's house ².

Abu Dawud narrates by way of al-Zuhri from Ibn Ka'b ibn Malik from his father from Umm Mubashshir: she entered on the Prophet in the illness of which he died and said: "whom do you suspect, Messenger of God? I suspect — by my father — nothing but the poisoned ewe that was eaten with you" ².

Ahmad mentions in her entry: "Umm Mubashshir al-Ansariyya, wife of Zayd ibn Haritha (may God be pleased with him)" ².
