Overview
Rufayda al-Aslamiyya, a Companion known for nursing the sick and wounded in the mosque. She had a well-known tent to which the wounded were carried 1.
Rufayda's tent at the Trench
Her first mention in the book is connected with the battle of the Trench, when Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was struck by an arrow in his arm-vein and badly wounded. The Prophet said: "Place him in the tent of Rufayda, which is in the mosque, until I visit him from nearby" 1 (the battle of the Trench).
Her care for the wounded
The book says that she supervised the sick and wounded, treated them, and looked after them, and that she spent on this from her own money and took no wage for it 2.
Notes for researchers
- The description that her tent travelled with the army from one expedition to another is a comment by the book's authors, and has not yet been established from an original source; for that reason it is not stated here.
- The book "Nisa' hawl al-Rasul" is a modern reference used for events and citations only, and its wording is not reworded here.
- Her date of birth, her death, and her lineage are not given in the pages that have been read.
