Overview
Qutayba ibn Muslim al-Bahili, a commander in Khurasan and Transoxiana. al-Hajjaj appointed him over Khurasan in 86 AH. 1
The conquests
al-Tabari reports his peace with the king of Khwarazm, and his conquest of Samarqand 2, Bukhara 3, Taliqan 4, and Kashgar 5.
al-Sallabi traces the stages of his conquests: the recovery of Taliqan, Saghaniyan and Tukharistan in 86 AH; then Bukhara between 87 and 90 AH; then Samarqand between 90 and 93 AH; and reaching Kashgar near the borders of China 1.
