Overview
Amr ibn Hind al-Lakhmi, lord of al-Hira, of the Banu Lakhm, and his title was "the stone-breaker". 2
Ibn al-Athir says the title was for the severity of his rule and the strength of his policy. His mother was Hind daughter of al-Harith ibn Amr al-Maqsur, the paternal aunt of the poet Imru' al-Qays. 2
Al-Mundhir appointed him over Bakr and Taghlib in the raid of the Banu Akil al-Murar, and he was eager to humiliate the nobles of the Arabs, until he treacherously dealt with the mother of Amr ibn Kulthum, Layla daughter of al-Muhalhil, and Ibn Kulthum rushed at his sword and killed him in the tent. 3
