Overview
A man of the Ashja' of whom only his death is known. He passed by the expedition of Ibn Abi Hadrad at Batn Idam, sitting on his mount with some goods and a skin of milk. He greeted them with the greeting of Islam, but the people held off from him, and Muhallim ibn Jaththama charged at him and killed him. 1 Ibn Abi Hadrad says that the verse of al-Nisa' 94 was revealed about them. 1 At Hunayn Uyayna ibn Hisn sought his blood-money as chief of Ghatafan, and the Prophet decided the blood-money was one hundred camels: fifty on the journey and fifty on the return. See the raid. 2
Notes for researchers
- His Islam is inferred from his greeting and from the context of the verse. Ibn Ishaq does not state it outright, except in what he relates from al-Aqra' that his people might bear witness that he "was killed an unbeliever who never prayed", in a threatening context. 3
