Overview
Al-Muhajir ibn Abi Umayya ibn al-Mughira al-Makhzumi, a Companion and one of the Prophet's governors over Yemen, as al-Baladhuri mentions. The reports differ about his governorship. Some say the Prophet appointed him over Sana'a and he died while governing it. Others say that Abu Bakr appointed him. Hisham ibn al-Kalbi and al-Haytham ibn Adi say that the Prophet appointed him over Kinda and al-Sadaf. 1
In the Ridda wars
His name appears in Abu Bakr's letter among the commanders of the Ridda wars in Yemen. 1 The data record his role as governor of Sana'a when al-Aswad al-Ansi rose against him, within the dispatch of the collectors of the alms. 2
The date of his death is not set out here and needs an additional source.
