Summary
Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said that it reached him from Abdullah ibn Abbas (may God be pleased with him) that he said: embezzlement has never appeared among a people without terror being cast into their hearts; adultery has never spread among a people without death increasing among them; a people has never cheated in measure and weight without their provision being cut off; a people has never judged by other than the truth without blood spreading among them; and a people has never broken a covenant without God giving the enemy power over them. Ibn Abd al-Barr mentioned it as halted (mawquf) on Ibn Abbas. 1
