- Aslam, mawla of Umar
Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi from Aslam, client of Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him), that Umar found the scent of perfume while he was at al-Shajara, and said: whose scent is this? Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan said: it is from me, Commander of the Faithful. Umar said: from you? By the life of God! Muawiya said: Umm Habiba perfumed me, Commander of the Faithful. Umar said: I command you to go back and wash it off. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1057), Suwayd (492), al-Tahawi, Ibn Wahb and al-Shaybani (402) transmitted it from Malik. 1
