Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar, when he drew near Mecca, would spend the night at Dhu Tuwa between the two passes until morning, then pray the dawn prayer, then enter by the pass above Mecca. When he set out on the pilgrimage or the lesser pilgrimage, he did not enter until he had washed before entering Mecca, and he ordered those with him to wash too. The editor notes that Ibn Abi Shayba and al-Bayhaqi transmitted reports from Ibn Umar agreeing with this. 1
