«هذه الأيام التي نهانا رسول الله عن صيامهن، وأمرنا بفطرهن»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
Malik transmits from Yazid ibn Abdallah ibn al-Had, from Abu Murra, client of Umm Hani, from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may God be pleased with him) (may God be pleased with him), that he went in to his father Amr ibn al-As and found him eating, and invited him; he said: I am fasting. Amr said: these are the days the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade us to fast and ordered us to break our fast. Malik said: they are the days of tashriq. The editor notes that Yahya said 'client of Umm Hani, the wife of Aqil', which is a glaring error that Ibn Wadah corrected; that the correct form is Umm Hani's sister; and that Ibn Abd al-Barr (al-Tamhid 23/67-68) showed that Abu Murra did not hear from Amr. 1
