Summary
A saying transmitted by Yahya from Malik: whoever eats or drinks forgetfully or heedlessly during voluntary fasting owes no making up; he should complete the day on which he ate or drank as a voluntary fast, and not break it. And one who is struck by something that interrupts his voluntary fast owes no making up, if he broke it through an unintended excuse and not deliberately. He does not hold that one owes making up a voluntary prayer he interrupted by a breach that requires ablution and that he cannot hold back. The editor notes that Abu Musab transmitted it from Malik (828-830). 1
