Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Suhayl ibn Abi Salih
Summary
Malik transmits from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father, that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: God is pleased with three things for you and displeased with three: He is pleased that you worship Him and associate nothing with Him, that you hold together to the rope of God, and that you counsel those whom God has put in charge of your affairs; and He is displeased with gossip, the squandering of wealth, and excessive questioning. The editor notes that in the Muwatta this report is relayed (mursal), without Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him); most of Malik's transmitters report it connected to Abu Hurayra, as Ibn Abd al-Barr stated explicitly. 1
