Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Safwan ibn Sulaym
Summary
Malik transmits from Safwan ibn Sulaym that it was said to the Prophet ﷺ: can a believer be a coward? He said: yes. It was said: can a believer be stingy? He said: yes. It was said: can a believer be a liar? He said: no. The editor notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that he does not know it traced to the Prophet in this wording through a sound route, and that it is a good hadith. 1
