Summary
Malik transmits from Safwan ibn Sulaym that a man said to the Prophet ﷺ: may I lie to my wife, Messenger of God? He said: there is no good in lying. The man said: may I promise her and say something to her? He said: there is no blame on you. The editor notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that he does not know this wording traced to the Prophet in this form. 1
