Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Zayd ibn Aslam that two men came from the east and spoke, and people marvelled at their eloquence. The Messenger of God said: there is indeed sorcery in eloquence, or: some eloquence is sorcery. The editor notes that some copies add 'from Abdullah ibn Umar' after Zayd's name, which is an error relative to Yahya's transmission; Ibn Abd al-Barr considered the correct form to be connected to Ibn Umar, since a group of Malik's students transmitted it so. 1
