Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Abdallah ibn Dinar
Summary
Malik transmits from Abdallah ibn Dinar, from Abu Salih al-Sammam, that Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him) told him: a man speaks a word without paying it any heed, and it drops him into the fire of Hell; and a man speaks a word without paying it any heed, and God raises him by it in Paradise. The editor notes that in Malik's Muwatta the hadith is halted (mawquf) on Abu Hurayra, that al-Bukhari transmitted it raised through Abd al-Rahman ibn Abdallah ibn Dinar, and that al-Daraqutni said the halted version is the preserved one. 1
