Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Ata ibn Yasar, that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: when the servant falls ill, God sends two angels to him and says: see what he says to those who visit him. If, when they come to him, he praises God and extols Him, they lift that up to God, who knows best. He says: for my servant, if I take him, is that I shall admit him to Paradise; and if I heal him, I shall replace his flesh with better flesh and his blood with better blood, and I shall expiate his misdeeds. The editor notes that Ibn Abd al-Barr held the hadith is relayed (mursal) in all Muwatta transmitters, and that Abbad ibn Kathir al-Thaqafi connected it, though he is abandoned (matruk). 1
