Summary

Malik transmits from Sumay, client of Abu Bakr, from Abu Salih al-Sammam, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: while a man was walking on a road, thirst grew severe on him. He found a well, went down into it, drank, and came out. There was a dog panting and eating the wet earth from thirst; he said: this dog has reached the same thirst that I had. He went down into the well, filled his leather sock, held it in his mouth until he climbed up, and gave the dog to drink. God thanked him for it and forgave him. They said: Messenger of God, is there reward for us in beasts? He said: in every living liver there is a reward. 1
