Summary
Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said, from Said ibn al-Musayyab, that a man from Aslam came to Abu Bakr and told him that a man had committed adultery. Abu Bakr ordered him to repent and conceal it. His conscience would not rest, so he went to Umar and said the same to him. Then he went to the Prophet ﷺ, who turned away from him three times. When he insisted, the Prophet sent to his family and asked them: is he sick, or is there madness in him? They said: he is healthy. He asked: is she a virgin or previously married? They said: previously married. The Prophet ordered him stoned. 1
