Summary
Malik transmits from Rabia ibn Abi Abd al-Rahman, from Yazid, client of al-Munbaith, from Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani (may God be pleased with him), that a man came to the Messenger and asked him about lost property. He said: know its container and its tie, then announce it for a year; if its owner comes, well; otherwise it is yours. He said: what about lost sheep, Messenger of God? He said: it is yours, or your brother's, or the wolf's. He said: and lost camels? He said: what is it to you? It has its water-skin and its sandal; it comes to water and eats the trees until its owner finds it. 1
