«إنما هو أحد رجلين: إما ظالم فلا أحب أن أدفن معه، وإما صالح فلا أحب أن تنبش لي عظامه»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
Malik transmits from Hisham ibn Urwa, from his father, that he said: I do not like to be buried in al-Baqi; I would rather be buried elsewhere, because whoever is in it is one of two men: either a wrongdoer, with whom I would not like to be buried, or a righteous man, whose bones I would not like to be disturbed. The editor notes that Abu Musab and al-Shafii transmitted it from Malik, and Abd al-Razzaq transmitted it from Ibn Jurayj from Hisham. 1
