Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said that it reached him that Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may God be pleased with him), while ill, asked Aisha: how many garments was the Prophet ﷺ shrouded in? She said: three white Suhuli garments. He ordered that a garment with saffron or safflower stains be taken, washed, and used as one of the shrouds along with two others. Aisha said: what is this? He said: the living has more need of the new than the dead; this is for the discharge, meaning what flows from the dead. The editor notes that Abu Musab and Suwayd transmitted it from Malik, citing al-Tamhid (24/90). 1
