Summary
Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said, from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Hibban, that he said his grandfather Hibban had two wives, one from the Hashimites and one Ansari. He divorced the Ansari woman while she was nursing, a year passed, and then he died without her having menstruated. She said: I inherit from him, since I have not menstruated. They brought their dispute to Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him), who ruled in her favour for the inheritance. The Hashimite woman blamed Uthman, and he said: this is the work of your cousin; he advised us to do this, meaning Ali ibn Abi Talib (may God be pleased with him). 1
