Summary
Yahya transmits from Abu Bakr ibn Hazm that Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz asked him about a divorce called al-batta, the irrevocable one, and what people say about it. Abu Bakr said he told him that Aban ibn Uthman used to count it as one. Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz said: if divorce were a thousand, the irrevocable would leave none of it; whoever says al-batta has reached the furthest limit. 1
