«لقد رأيت بضعة وثلاثين ملكاً يبتدرونها، أيهم يكتبهن أولاً»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Nu'aym ibn Abdullah al-Mujmir from Ali ibn Yahya al-Zurqi from his father from Rifa'a ibn Rafi' al-Zurqi, who said: one day we were praying behind the Prophet ﷺ. When he raised his head from the bow and said "God hears whoever praises Him", a man behind him said: "Our Lord, to You is praise, abundant, good and blessed praise in it". When the Prophet finished he asked who had spoken just now. The man said: me, Messenger of God. The Prophet told him he had seen some thirty angels rushing to be first to write it down. The editor notes that some copies have "who would write it first", with the same meaning as Zurqani explained, and that Abu Mus'ab, Ibn Wahb and Rawh ibn Ubada transmitted it, with al-Qa'nabi, al-Bukhari (799), Abu Dawud (770), al-Hakim, al-Bayhaqi and Ibn al-Qasim in al-Nasa'i. 1 2
