Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Nu'aym ibn Abdullah al-Mujmir from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Zayd al-Ansari from Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari, in the chapter on blessing the Prophet ﷺ: the Prophet came to them in the gathering of Sa'd ibn Ubada, and Bashir ibn Sa'd asked him how they should bless him, since God ordered them to. The Prophet was silent until they wished he had not been asked. Then he taught them to say: O God, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed Abraham, and bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed the family of Abraham among the worlds; You are praiseworthy and glorious; and peace as you have learned. The editor cites Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa'i, Ibn Hibban, Ahmad, al-Darimi and al-Shafi'i, and refers to al-Tamhid. 1 2
