Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Abdullah ibn Umar, in the chapter on voluntary prayer on a journey: the Prophet ﷺ prayed on his mount on a journey wherever it faced, and Abdullah ibn Dinar said Ibn Umar did the same. The editor cites Muslim, al-Nasa'i, Abu Awana, Ahmad and al-Shafi'i from Malik's transmitters, and notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that the correct version is Malik's report from Abdullah ibn Dinar, not from Nafi', and that the hadith is sound, transmitted from Ibn Umar, Jabir and Anas through many channels and accepted by scholars (al-Tamhid). 1 2
