Summary

The first hadith in the chapter on combining two prayers at home and on a journey. Yahya transmits from Malik from Dawud ibn al-Husayn from al-A'raj as a mursal: the Prophet ﷺ combined the noon and afternoon prayers on his journey to Tabuk. The editor notes that one copy adds "from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him)", and that most Muwatta transmitters give it as a mursal, and that Ibn Abd al-Barr preferred the mursal form in Yahya's version, saying Abu Mus'ab outside the Muwatta, Mutarrif and al-Hunayni and others gave it connected from Abu Hurayra (al-Tamhid). Al-Daraqutni in his Ilal did not mention Yahya among those who connected it. Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd and Muhammad ibn al-Hasan transmitted it as a mursal. 1 2
