«تصلي في الخمار والدرع السابغ إذا غيب ظهور قدميها»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Muhammad ibn Zayd ibn Qunfudh from his mother, in the chapter on permission for a woman to pray in a shirt and headscarf: she asked Umm Salama, the Prophet ﷺ's wife, what a woman may pray in, and Umm Salama said she prays in a headscarf and a full shirt that covers the tops of her feet. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab, Suwayd and al-Qa'nabi in Abu Dawud (639) transmitted it, and that Abd al-Rahman ibn Abd Allah ibn Dinar raised it to the Prophet in Abu Dawud (640), a weaker version, since he is weak and alone, while Malik, Bakr ibn Mudar, Hafs ibn Ghiyath, Isma'il ibn Ja'far, Ibn Abi Dhi'b and Ibn Ishaq stopped it at Umm Salama, as Abu Dawud said. 1
