«خطب خطبتين يوم الجمعة وجلس بينهما»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits as a mursal from Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq from his father Muhammad al-Baqir, in the chapter on the Friday recitation and whoever leaves it without excuse: the Prophet ﷺ preached two sermons on Friday and sat between them. The editor notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that the Muwatta transmitters generally gave it as a mursal, and that it connects through established channels outside Malik's hadith. Al-Shafi'i and al-Bayhaqi transmitted it from Ja'far from his father from Jabir, and it is in al-Bukhari and Muslim from Ibn Umar. 1
