Summary

A saying of Malik in the chapter on striving on Friday: striving in God's book means work and action. He cites places in the Qur'an where striving appears in the sense of work, in al-Baqara, Abasa, al-Nazi'at and al-Layl. The striving God mentions in the Friday verse is therefore not running on foot or hurrying, but work and action. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd transmitted it. 1
