Summary

A ruling of Malik in the chapter on opening the prayer: he was asked about a man who joined the imam, forgot the opening takbir and the takbir for bowing, prayed one rak'a, then remembered and said the takbir in the second. He said it is better for him to begin his prayer again. If he forgot the opening takbir and said the takbir at the first bowing, he thought this sufficed if he intended the opening takbir by it. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd transmitted it. 1
